Saturday August 23rd: The night started out good as all the DFR cars were running good in practice, and all three qualified at or near their fastest times of the year. Then came the heat races and things started to go south. Kevin Sr and Drew started in the second race, and neither were able to make it to the front and settled in towards the back of the field. Derek came into the night as the points leader, and it turned out to be a night to forget. In the third, and fast heat, Derek was racing towards the front when he was spun. He was able to continue, but finished towards the back. Now, it was time for the feature and things did not get better. On lap five Derek was collected in a crash involving the same driver who spun him in the heat race. Derek hit the backstretch wall nearly head on, but walked away unharmed. The car on the other hand is a different story as it received heavy front-end damage. Kevin Sr., also pulled off the track on lap five during the caution due to overheating issues. Drew was the only bright spot of the feature for DFR coming home with another top 10 in 8th. Join us next weekend at the Plymouth Speedway as there are only two weeks of racing left in the 2008 season!
